Women of Title Spotlight: Taylor Spolidoro
In this edition of Women of Title, we are thrilled to feature Taylor Spolidoro, a dynamic leader whose dedication and passion have made a significant impact in the title insurance industry. With 16.5 years of experience, Taylor's journey is one of mentorship, resilience, and authentic leadership.
A Journey Rooted in Relationships
Taylor began her career in title insurance in 2008 with the American Land Title Association (ALTA). Based in Southern California, she operates remotely while staying deeply connected to ALTA's headquarters in Washington, D.C. As the Senior Director of Member Engagement and Development, Taylor focuses on supporting members with valuable resources, recruitment, and fostering committee engagement.
Her path into title insurance was serendipitous. After college, Taylor worked in property management in Washington, D.C., where she met Michelle Korsmo, then CEO of ALTA. Michelle saw Taylor's potential and brought her into the ALTA family. That decision not only shaped Taylor's career but also her personal life, as she met her husband at an ALTA conference in 2011. Today, they share a decade-long marriage and two beautiful children.
Inspiration and Mentorship
Taylor credits much of her success to Betsy Russo, a mentor-turned-friend who provided unwavering support, wisdom, and encouragement. Betsy’s guidance helped Taylor navigate challenges and grow into the leader she is today.
However, challenges have been part of Taylor's journey, including the struggle for respect in a traditionally male-dominated space. Her advice to younger women entering the industry is simple yet powerful:
"Be yourself. Trust your gut, and don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do."
Fueling Confidence and Drive
Taylor’s drive stems from seeing other women succeed and knowing she has played a role in their growth. She finds strength and resilience through her husband, children, mentors, and close circle of friends. Books like Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg and podcasts such as Dare to Lead by Brené Brown have also been instrumental in shaping her leadership philosophy.
Dealing with workplace dynamics hasn’t always been easy, especially when women become each other’s biggest challengers. Taylor shares how The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz transformed her perspective, especially the principle: "Don’t take anything personally."
Living with Purpose and Passion
Outside of work, Taylor is passionate about wellness. Whether it's running marathons, meditating, or tracking macros, she prioritizes health and balance in her life. Her personal philosophy is clear: "I want to enjoy what I do and enjoy who I do it with."
When asked about her legacy, Taylor hopes to be remembered as someone who fostered inclusivity and made everyone feel welcome and valued. Her word of advice to the Women of Title community? "This community is amazing, and I’m so excited to see all the incredible things we’ll accomplish together!"
