Jaimee Mikusi: A Trek Through Title Insurance

In the ever-evolving world of title insurance, few professionals embody the spirit of resilience, leadership, and passion like Jaimee Mikusi. With an impressive 27-year tenure in the industry, Jaimee’s journey has been shaped by experience, mentorship, and an unwavering drive to excel. Currently serving as the National Business Development Manager at PropLogix, she brings a unique perspective to her role, one that is deeply rooted in her operational expertise and a genuine desire to help others succeed.

A Journey Through Title.

Jaimee’s career in title insurance began in 1998 in sales at ServiceLink, where she spent 22 years mastering various aspects of the business. From managing closings to working in REO, Originations, and the Subordination team, her expertise spans multiple facets of the industry. Now, at PropLogix, she specializes in national due diligence products, providing valuable solutions to professionals who face the same challenges she once did.

“Having been on the operations side, I understand firsthand the frustrations and costs that come with the job,” she says. “It allows me to connect with my clients on a deeper level and genuinely make their jobs easier.”

The Unexpected Career That Became a Calling.

Like many in the industry, Jaimee’s introduction to title insurance was serendipitous. Fresh out of Robert Morris University, she was searching for a job that offered stability and benefits. A position at ServiceLink seemed like a steppingstone, but it quickly turned into a fulfilling career.

“I excelled early on, and the more I learned, the more invested I became,” she recalls. “The opportunities to grow were endless, and leaving behind the knowledge and relationships I built was never an option.”

Mentorship and Inspiration.

One of the most influential figures in Jaimee’s career was Nicky Roman, a dear friend and mentor who left an indelible mark on her life. “Nicky stood by me during one of the hardest times in my life—when I lost my father, went through a divorce, and managed an intense workload all at once,” she shares. “She reminded me of my resilience and strength, even while facing her own unimaginable struggles.” Nicky’s unwavering support and wisdom continue to inspire Jaimee to be a pillar of strength for others in the industry.

Challenges and Triumph.

Jaimee acknowledges that being a woman in title insurance comes with its challenges, particularly in a traditionally male-dominated field. Early in her career, she faced skepticism from both men and women. Over time, she learned the importance of self-advocacy, professionalism, and addressing challenges head-on.

“My approach has always been to handle conflicts directly and professionally, ensuring mutual respect,” she explains. “Respect and professionalism are the foundation of successful workplace relationships.”

Advice for the Next Generation.

For young women entering the industry, Jaimee emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and mentorship. “Soak up all the knowledge you can and find a mentor who will guide you,” she advises. “Understanding how different parts of the industry fit together will make you more confident and successful.”

She also encourages networking and relationship-building, as these connections often open doors to new opportunities.

The Drive to Keep Going.

Jaimee’s motivation stems from her upbringing in a military family and her role as a single mother of four. “My kids are my ultimate ‘why.’ They see me work hard, juggle responsibilities, and support them in everything they do,” she shares.

“I want to set an example for them—hard work isn’t just about financial success; it’s about character and resilience.”

Life has its uncertainties, and Jaimee is no stranger to overcoming obstacles. “I never imagined I’d find myself divorced, but my upbringing prepared me for the ‘just in case.’ My father, a Navy commander, instilled in all five of his children the importance of education, independence, and resilience. He was particularly adamant about ensuring his three daughters pursued careers and became strong, capable women. His lessons have shaped my life and, in turn, the way I guide my children.”

Passions Beyond Work.

Outside of the title industry, Jaimee has a deep passion for sports. A former college soccer player, she has carried that love into her personal life as a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers. “Cheering for my hometown teams is always a thrill!” she says.

More than just a spectator, she finds the greatest joy in watching her kids play. “They’re involved in so many sports—soccer, indoor soccer, softball, baseball, wrestling, flag football, and football. I absolutely love being their biggest supporter,” she shares. “Sports have always been a big part of my life, and it’s incredible to see my kids share that same passion.”

Music and Memories.

When it comes to music, Jaimee embraces her roots. “I think my first concert was New Kids on the Block at Six Flags in NJ! I’m old!” she laughs. “I love all kinds of music now, but I’ll always have a soft spot for Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. I’m a Jersey Girl at heart.”

Empowerment & Legacy.

Living by the motto “Work Smarter, Not Harder,” Jaimee believes in finding efficient solutions and approaching challenges with creativity. “It’s practically our family motto,” she laughs. “It ensures we maximize efforts while minimizing stress.”

Looking ahead, Jaimee hopes her legacy in the title industry will be one of hard work, professionalism, and kindness. “I want to be remembered not just for my achievements but for how I treated others,” she says. “Success is about the positive impact we make along the way.”
